Artist Statement:
My encaustic and abstract paintings are the result of embracing a theme or concept, allowing my imagination the freedom to explore techniques, color and design, and then translating that process and vision into a painting using paint, pigments, melted wax, cold wax and a variety of other materials.

In my realistic paintings, my goal is to convey the beautiful balance of light and shadow. My focus is to capture the subtleties of time of day, temperature and the source of light as it alters the appearance of an object or landscape. Many paintings are simple compositions with a focus on conveying the effects of atmospheric conditions, sunlight or artificial light sources.
