The process of batik is, for me, a form of meditation. The process itself forces me to slow down, to think about color and shape and, most of all, to relax and breathe and to become part of this slow, mindful process. Removing the wax for the first glimpse of the final product is joyful and leads into all the fun questions of how to finish and present this piece and where to begin anew.
