Judy Chace Doyle paints New England and beyond in pastels and watercolor, inspired by the colors, textures and forms of our natural world.

When she was 10 years old she had oil painting lessons with a local artist. As a teenager, she took Saturday morning drawing classes at the Rhode Island School of Design. Throughout the rest of her life, she has taken many classes and workshops, with the philosophy that one must never stop learning.

Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues and she enjoys a following of collectors.

She is a longtime member of  Art Guild Northeast.

Artist Statement:
To quote Pablo PIcasso: "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
I am intrigued by the juxtaposition of architectural lines-barns, houses, bridges-and the undulations of nature-paths, hills, trees, shore, clouds-and loving the color to be discovered everywhere in nature and human endeavor.
I am mainly an in-studio artist, working from my own photos taken 'en plein-air'. My favorite mediums are pastel and watercolor. At times I may use both in a painting. I am happy to share with you impressions of my native New England, the 'Quiet Corner' of Connecticut, and travels beyond, to the Netherlands, France, England, Italy and recently the Cotswolds, England. Then again, there is inspiration right outside my door!
Many artists inspire me, including Maxfield Parrish, the Wylies, Mary Cassatt, Foster Caddell, Robert Carsten, Edward Hopper, Marla Baggetta, Nancie King Mertz, Jean Hirons and more.
